Waggin’ Tales is possible through a partnership between the Hardin County Public Library and Friends of Hardin County Animal Shelter.  Developed to grow young readers’ confidence and also to help calm and socialize shelter dogs, Waggin’ Tales brings two of our community’s most vulnerable groups together to succeed.

2018 dates:

June 14
June 28
July 11
July 25

The dogs will remain in their kennels the entire time.  Younger siblings are invited to sit with older siblings to listen and help show pictures to the dogs. In order to limit distractions to the dogs, parents will be asked to remain in the lobby during the reading session, and will be able to view their children reading via a tv screen hooked up to the shelter video cameras.   There will be two shelter volunteers in the Adoptable Kennels with the children during the entire session.
